Vintage, Hand Quilted,Reversible, Cotton Kantha Throw Quilt from Saree

This listing is for ONE cotton,hand quilted using Kantha embroidery quilt as shown in pictures. Similar throws retail in Nordstorm at $128 but they are half the size of this quilt.

MATERIAL: pure cotton.
Dimensions: 160 cms x 230 cms (approximate)
Color : multi colored as shown in pictures
Quilt Weight : ~2.6 lbs.
Process of Creation: two vintage cotton sarees (Indian wrap around dress) are hand quilted together using Kantha stitch. The quality of Kantha work is measured with the number of stitches per square inches of fabric - higher number of stitches per inch (being more labor intensive) are higher priced. I put twice as many number of stitches in the quilts in my studio than what you would find in other places. I wanted my quilts to last for years so between the two sarees, I also added couple of layers of cotton cloth. This gives them more weight, longevity and allows them to be used as bedspreads as well as throws.

Condition : minor imperfections may exist and are considered to add to charm of these throws or quilts

What is Kantha Embroidery?
It is 200 year old art of hand embroidery originated from West Bengal, India and Bangladesh. There are various types of Kantha embroidery such as nakshi kantha, running kantha etc. This quilt has been made using kantha resembling running stitch.
